LaRouche is a bizarre figure. I first learned about him when I was trying to learn more about a math object called a Riemann surface (I’m a grad student). I searched Riemann Surface on youtube and I learned that LaRouche has hundreds of videos on youtube claiming to be about…..math but if you actually listen to what the speaker says it’s all gibberish. I have no idea why they would put so much effort into something so pointless but I can only imagine it involves money laundering. This is the video I’m talking about. Making Waves in Germany’s election: Missing them — In my suburb there are no posters from #NoAfD, @diebasispartei or similar dubious groups. I like that.

For mainstream news coverage, we have this: 47 parties are in the running for seats in the Bundestag; it might be wise to brush up on arithmetic, maybe even calculus. This year Berlin has its own state election as well, with 34 parties competing for its House of Representatives and for all sixteen borough councils too. A good pencil-sharpener might be useful (or a ball-point). Mostly they are small, even tiny, like the Animal Rights Party, the Liberal-Konservativ Reformer, or a party run by the German widow of Lyndon LaRouche, an American provocateur of past years. Or the little German Communist Party. Few reach 1%.

Election results — A little bit like French election results where the Larouhies come in last, trailing the Trotskyites by roughly A 2 – 1 margin. But, I guess maybe they focused on a “First we take Berlin” strategy — where they beat we deal parties, and really does suck to be “New Berlin”. V. Memories

One time I was being solicited aggressively by a LaRouche (I think) political canvasser and I stuck out my arm like a running back warding off a tackle and yelled “Personal space! PERSONAL SPACE!!!” at him. It’s all you can do.

The first “Free thinker” I met in college, decades ago, called himself that because he was a Holocaust denier and Lyndon LaRouche supporter. Subsequent encounters with those who describe themselves that way have done nothing to assuage my initial revulsion.

But mostly it seemed like conspiracy theories in the anti-gov genre were either grifts or mis/disinfo based on elements of truth which bad (or self‐serving) actors had spun in2 sensational stories & nefarious plots — … exploiting ppls cynism, fears, & the public’s knowledge of wrongdoing our gov really has engaged in, in order 2 sow discord or in service of an alterior agenda. [Winking emoticon]. But I digress. So, during that time I stumbled on this vid made/published by LaRouchePAC… [1932] And, while it has a kinda cheesylow‐budget production value, [faceslap emoticon] I’d be lying if I said it didnt resonate w/ me. And I may well have become a true believer in the conspiracy theory it lays out too — if I hadnt had the presence of mind 2 look up LaRouche 2 see what he was about… Then, after learning about him, & how he promoted low-key fascistic & antisemitic views, I rewatched that vid again (4 like the 17th time [faceslap emoticon]) & was able 2 connect the dots, read between the lines, & see the veiled fascism & anti‐semitism in the narrative its espousing. So yeah… can totally see how some ppl could buy in 2 LaRouche’s movement, become brainwashed, & adopt views/beliefs that are fascist & antisemitic, w/o even really realizing it. (If that makes sense.) The fascist propaganda thats masked in a Leftist facade is particularly insidious.

Basically what we see here as Daniel Burke fights the video game is a guy who loves Humanity and not so much People. Over the last four years there was a genre of books published — sitting aside and somewhat a subgenre within the usual genre of anti-Current Guy in Charge books that always proliferate during any President’s tenure — which can be considered “anti- anti Trump books”. It is one which speaks somewhat to me — looking warily at a President who until that last month in office I could always say “preferable to W Bush” and get a tongue lashing for this from people who consider themselves “The Resistance”. And where our gamer arguing with Burke commits a faux pas by referencing Edgar Allen Poe as ” classical” — no idea if he picked him by knowing that Poe is on Larouche’s list of “good” — the idea remains, expressed by David Shield in ” Nobody Hates Trump More Than Trump” in staring down various Artistic Resistancers — I quoted on my blog here.

Most useful thing i have found about LaRouche’s cult is their articles and material on based industrial projects and how asbestos is good actually because of their belief the secret bong oligarchy is holding back progress to make us all serfs in the form of hippies

IV. Daniel Burke Scopes Out NYC Party Scene

Daniel Burke wants to know: Where do young people in NYC go to bars, on Friday nights in June 2021? I want to campaign where there is a flood of young people. Hm. I hear the kids are into the Goth these days. And the Techno. Check out the Goth Techno scene… Surely you will pick up new Larouchies there.

Random use of moniker and image as he relates old Conan O’Brien bits and makes a good argument on hypothetical election scenarios. I guess one can count Twitter responders who comment on the joke, keep a tally — do so yourself if interested.

Curiously ripping through tik tok — And at first I do not see anything except the use of the Hamilton musical, and only a small deluge of “larouche” tweets brings me to look deeper and watch the c-note rush by, complete with references to Rockefellar. Someone round those parts digs deeper (looks at her tiktok page) and notes the woman’s eclectic political influences. Altogether, it is amusing that in as much as anything larouchian went viral this last month, it is this tik tok dancer — perhaps giving credence to Daniel Burke’s hypothesis on cultural degeneration. Is she the future of Larouchism?

I heard him say he was mentored by an “economist” in nyc (who he would not name) that taught him about the supposed possibilty of ‘infinite economic growth’..as soon as he said that I suspected it was LaRouche himself! I am curious to see if there is a new pronounced attitude from Alex Jones — and it is worth noting Jones has not been consistent on things over the years. (There is a pre 2015 Jones and a post 2015 Jones — marking as Ron Paul gets replaced by Donald Trump as Great American Hero — or perhaps better marked as a Kurt Nimmo as main accolyte at infowars era and a Paul Joseph Watson era.). A quick Google search reveals nothing.

IV. Woke Forces Go After Aldous Huxley at Western Washington University, picking up Larouche Attacks

All we have to do is open our eyes and look. The A.S. Review’s op-ed arguing for the denaming is pulled out of the creationist, anti-evolution, anti-science, white supremacist swamp of disinformation and conspiracy. The article is written by Paul Glumaz, a long-term activist for the Lynldon LaRouche organization. He published in Executive Intelligence Review, a notorious LaRouche newsmagazine known for hawking conspiracy theories over the past five decades, including that climate change is a hoax and the “Big Lie” conspiracy that claims the election was stolen from Trump. Glumaz himself is currently a leading promoter of the Big Lie.

Glumaz’s article is a tour de force synthesis of the creationist, Christian fundamentalist, anti-science attacks on Huxley. The attacks have spread and multiplied since Henry M. Morris published an article in 1973 accusing Huxley of racism and connecting evolutionary theory to genocide. Morris was the founder of scientific creationism, a fanatical anti-evolutionist and himself a racist who supported a biblical justification for slavery.

Glumaz’s absurd rhetoric escalates to a dramatic climax of mind-control conspiracy where Huxley single-handedly (well, with a little help from Darwin) purges God and scripture from society. In its place he builds an “empire of Malthusian genocide” (Malthusian often being code for birth control and reproductive rights) that is leading us into a secular “Dark Age collapse of civilization.”

Whew!

Glumaz’s arguments are used throughout the A.S. Review op-ed. We should take to heart the concluding words of Paul White, one of the distinguished historians the Task Force asked to comment on Huxley’s legacy. White is the editor and research associate for the Darwin Correspondence Project, at Cambridge University. White wrote the following about the A.S. Review articles:

“I have tried to understand something of the situation you are facing, and have read several articles in the AS Review (“Thomas Huxley: Once Respected, Now Rejected,” “Students Continue to Push for Huxley College Name Change”). These are not well informed and are stitched together from a handful of sources. From the Executive Intelligence Review (one of the sources cited), I learned that Huxley orchestrated the hideous conspiracy that man is an instinct driven ape-like creature. Huxley is described as an abolitionist, he was in fact much more than this. He called for the elimination of all political, legal, and economic prejudices, equal rights and opportunities for people of all races (and sexes). If the staff and students agree to remove Huxley’s name, they should at least do so with a better understanding of his views, and an appreciation for his place in the history of human emancipation and activism.”

The Glumaz citation was also included in the follow-up research document submitted to the Task Force, and the basic framework and arguments were maintained. Quote-mining is used extensively throughout the report, with most of the lifted passages quote-mined previously by creationists. Virtually all the arguments against Huxley can be traced back to creationist sources.

The “man is not an ape” line dragged out to prove a Malthusian pessimism by opponents, curiously for a man who spent a lifetime predicting quarterly apocalypses here called — ironically — an Optimist.

V.  The passing of a royal brings out a bit…

Leonard Peltier was on the ballot for President in 2004 and –though he dropped out before the election — vice president (position under the same legal restrictions) in 2020.  (And some states do have the prohibition against felons running).

In two reports in 1984 for “First Camera,” a short-lived NBC news magazine program, Ms. Lynch maintained that Mr. LaRouche was, as she recounted in a 1985 article in The Columbia Journalism Review, “the leader of a violence-prone, anti-Semitic cult that smeared its opponents and sued its critics.”
Former LaRouchians, as they were called, told her that their leader had talked about assassinating President Jimmy Carter. After Ms. Lynch’s reports were broadcast, LaRouche adherents picketed NBC, carrying signs that said, “Lynch Pat Lynch.” She received at least one death threat, and her parents’ Long Island neighborhood was littered with fliers saying that she was running a call-girl operation from their house.
Mr. LaRouche filed a defamation suit against NBC. When a federal jury rejected his claim, NBC countersued, accusing the group of engaging in dirty tricks and impersonating Ms. Lynch to sabotage her reporting.
The jury awarded the network $3 million in damages, an amount later reduced to $258,000.
