That Time Donald Trump & son and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were in Agreement

Wikimedia mania!

Here’s how someone or other is addressing the matter of spotting Larouche’s politics.

LaRouche is now a strickly right wing movement, devoted to licking Trump’s butthole. Also, Bubby C. Is dumb and doesn’t understamd the internet.

Didn’t get the memo.  Then again, as late June 7th we got the question of “Is he actually dead?“…

Also, with a dead personality as personality cult leader, where we sometimes don’t differentiate actors from the leader, well… the statement stands.

II.  After five decades in the trenches, this tweet is the final by-product of the Lyndon Larouche Movement.  (Or maybe this conceptual artwork.  See?  They are leading a new Renaissance in Art.)

It’s one of those days where you wake up, pull up Twitter, see “EatTheBabies” is trending, and know you’re going to spend the rest of the day wondering if it’s too early to start drinking/crying in public. You know, typical Friday stuff.

I fully assumed this was trollery by O’Keefe, who loves the theater of the absurd, or some other outfit.

Since the election of Donald Trump, the Larouche Movement (or sometimes expressed as simply “Larouche”, for the two become synonymous) have made the news cycling three times.  First, as a footnote for the dodgy dossier alleging the Russian government having video of Trump getting urinated on.  (To be sure, in the deepfake era, someone probably does.)  That doesn’t garner a lot of analysis as most coverage didn’t get far enough beyond that headline because… good taste prevailed after all.

The second time was at his death, which came with a few (understandably) flawed obituaries and some casual remembrances of seeing them (them = him) at airports and the like.

Now we have the third big Larouche headliner of the Trump Era.  This one I had been expecting for a while, wondering how it would play out, and now that it’s played out — I can say with utmost confidence that it’s something that played out.  It’s an old tactic they’d surely get some mileage out that would help kick their moribund organization in the teeth — say something crazy at a controversial politician’s town hall, garner notice, declare victory.  I wouldn’t have known who they’d be sending out for the task — except for the certainty that it would be swastika adorned Jovi Val — too many swastikas.  I did have the better than 50 percent odds that their focus would be Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, because of geography and that everyone is watching her.

Bottom line is that we have the Trumps — The Donald and son — tweeting in basically a “Ha!  Ha!  Check out that crazy woman!” AOC is way too woke for that, so her comment is the “Show some compassion for this mentally ill person”.  Upon declaration from the Larouchies that they were pulling a performance stunt, she refurbished it to a “Still not sure, that’s up to the doctors to decide”.

Comparing responses to the closest parallel of tactics and coverage — Rachel Brown with Barney Frank — Frank’s quip garnered the conservative media reaction of Bill O’Reilly tsk-tsking Frank’s meanness — while craftily packaging footage spotlighting a brush-off with an earlier town hall antagonist and excising Brown in relaying his exchange to her.  AOC’s more sedative response draws the reaction from partisans — “Note she didn’t reject eating babies!” — showing both angles of response won’t fully win … fully.

And the partisan wrangling lands on the standard lobbing to both “sides” — “Trump Supporter” or “He ran 7 times as a DEMOCRAT!”  Curious to note one comment that has Larouche as an Obama supporter, either deliberately or unintentionally (at either rate conveniently) cutting his history to spotlight the Larouchies’ brief flirtation to Obama following the 2008 election and before they jumped to the Obama – Hitler Mustache caper in exploiting the fight against his Health Care policy.

Lastly, we have one new twist here, wholly unexpected.  They appear to be aiming to fill the organization’s shaky coffers by selling a line of t-shirts with the “Eat the Babies” sloganeering — sure to appeal to the Hot Topic shopping whatever it is the latest amalgam of goth, emo, punkish youth culture are called — slide next to their Emily the Strange t-shirt wear.  It may suggest a new direction for the Larocuhies, a turn away from politics — next up the “New Dark Ages” key-chain — think of the Oneida Utopia Community’s turn to selling silverware.  Maybe they can market some “Double the Square” contraptions.  It’ll make a mint, I’m sure of it!

Their defense:   Sometimes, only satire works. … Though, only if anyone anywhere can figure out contexts.  For all you new fans of Lissie, go to 1:37:20, and we’ll get the fight against people who view Man as Animal, and the problem of people who think going to clubs is fun.  (“Going to Clubs isn’t find, making discoveries that have never been made before is what’s fun!”)
There’s your crisis actor you’ve all been desperately looking for.

So… descriptors:  A fringe political group claimed responsibility for a strange stunt.  A Pro-Trump conservative group.

Odd analysis from Russia Today:  The truth is that both sides got played.
An odd pro-life abortion angle.

They posted images on Fb on Wednesday of LaRouche PAC members who they mentioned had been ‘difficult college students with a polemical marketing campaign, “Eat the Children,”…to scale back the planet’s inhabitants one baby at a time!’

How did it backfire, exactly? The troll got their airplay. Even if REAL media outted the plant later, the EatTheBabies hashtag has already trended.  And you place it in the past tense.

When confronted by an obvious fruitcake, the reaction of mature adults is to wait a bit for them to run out of steam, then ignore them and get on with business.

Nay… they exploited the Meme-topia Agethough, really just for a 15 minute burst.  And a bunch of pop culture references lobbed about.

Both stories proved irresistible fodder for Twitter, and understandably so. The bizarre baby-eating outburst was entertaining, although some on the right genuinely seemed to assign it news value for Ocasio-Cortez’s response, in which she did not condemn cannibalizing infants.

Neither Trump has apologized or removed their factually incorrect tweets.

But even these doomsayers rarely advocate anything more extreme than shifting to renewable energy. The baby-eating stunt implies that there is some deeper, destructive side to environmentalism.
For what it’s worth, the latest New Republic covers the “eco-fascist” community.  Which I guess will be fodder for smearings.

The woman referenced Magnus Söderlund, a Swedish behavioral scientist who recently raised the possibility of human flesh as a sustainable food source. Söderlund, however, is simply a single person without any connection with Ocasio-Cortez, and not even he was making the proposal in full seriousness.

Yuck. I thought we cured LaRouche disease years ago. Is this a new antibiotic resistant form? AOC handled that clown show elegantly and like the jujitsu-ista she is, turned it around against the stupid’s. While there are a couple issues I don’t see eye to eye with her on, I remain a steady fan of our modern day La Passionara! Go AOC!

POINT:  This was a masterful troll. It was beautifully implemented and a thing that should be admired at least on some level. ALL of the great or even good memery and trolling seems to be coming from the right, these days. What happened on the left? Has the identitarian outrage culture left you completely devoid of creativity and humor?
COUNTERPOINT:  No, this was a bad troll that was obviously a troll from the get go. No none actually believed that the nutter was an AOC supporter, at best they thought she was just severely mentally ill, then she was escorted out and no one really engaged with her dumb “ideas”. Set your bar higher.

AOC can be seen trying to calm the woman down, repeatedly saying “it’s ok,” and ignoring the comments about babies. While the woman’s reference to “bombing” Russia may seem odd, the group supports both President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Lyndon H. LaRouche Jr., wow, there’s the name of a screwball that I had not thought of in a long time.

Between those fools and the Hare Krishnas, they added more obstacles to air travel in the 80s than TSA did post 9/11- they would jockey for the prime real estate at stairwells and escalators to ‘engage’ people who just wanted to run away..

I thought Ocascio-Cortez had better security than this. She needs it. She is near the top of the list of Congresswomen the right wants to assassinate.

Breibart:  While some members of the group have expressed support for President Trump –  (As in all of them,)  citing his “favorable economic policies” – many mainstream outlets are describing to the extremist cult-like group as simply a “pro-Trump group.”  I suppose you can pivot to the “Don’t Be a Chump for Trump” campaign ad.

And and and and … So So  So.

The connection of this stunt to LaRouche was first noted by London-based Matthew Sweet, author of the book Operation Chaos, which looks at conspiracy theorists of the late 1960s, including Lyndon LaRouche Jr.,

(blink)… Er… not quite the premise of the book.  Also, for what it’s worth, the connection was probably noted before on factnet larouchie watchers…

the late cofounder of the group. LaRouche, who was perhaps best known for his antisemitic conspiracy theories, died this past February. LaRouche claimed that Jews were actually funding the KKK and said that the Queen of England wanted to have him killed.
“It is textbook stuff,” Sweet told Gizmodo via Twitter DM, referring to yesterday’s bizarre stunt. “They have been in this game for decades.”
Sweet notes that the group did something similar to 1988 presidential candidate Michael Dukakis, spreading leaflets that he was mentally unwell and had visited a psychiatrist. The campaign made national headlines and Dukakis was forced to release medical records refuting the claim.
Aside from yesterday’s outburst, LaRouche PAC has been trying to get “eat children” satire out in other street-level engagements to discredit the environmental movement. The group posted photos to Facebook on October 2 that includes a message about eating children, as well as other more earnest messages in support of Donald Trump.

Sam Sedar talks to El Chapo at 1:45… “These are the Obama Hitler Mustache People” (same pointed out by rightwingwatch)…
(The next exchange regarding Jacob Wohl perhaps more interesting, frankly.)

One last word:  The Chinese already eat fetus soup!
And you know who likes the Chinese government?  I mean, besides the NBA…

III.  Allowing Rush Limbaugh to remark his memories that … he’s still alive?  Well… no.
And concerted memory:

John Frary of Farmington:  I first became an activist Republican in 1979, on behalf of Ronald Reagan. That’s when I had my first personal encounter with the LaRouche cult. An elderly Republican party official visited me at home with happy news about an anti-Carter Democrat named Cohen who had come from Washington to coordinate with New Jersey Republicans. He had given the activist a stack of his organization’s newspaper, “New Solidarity,” for distribution. After I explained the LaRouchian origin of his newspaper the old guy wanted to give young Mr. Cohen a piece of his mind. I suggested it would be more productive to ask for more stacks on New Solidarity and then take them to the dump. So it was done.

Rutgers University seemed to have a significant group of cultists back in the eighties. Posters appeared there regularly. The art work was pretty good and the texts described the vast conspiracy controlled by Nelson Rockefeller, Queen Elizabeth, the CIA, the KGB, the New York Police Department, and the Anthropology Department at New York University. As it happens I knew a grad student who subscribed to the cult’s glossy magazine at $360 a year. Turns out the conspiracy went all the way back to the Byzantine Empire and incorporated Frances Merovingian Dynasty. Very convincing, it was illustrated by, among other things, a photo of the tomb of Dagobert I. Yessir, an actual photo of Dagobert’s tomb. Can’t argue with a picture.

Rutgers students appeared at Middlesex County College every spring to set up a LaRouchian table with copies of New Solidarity and other inspiring literature. The first few years they dressed counter-culturally. Then orders came down from the Leader and they begin to show up dressed like Mormon missionaries.

TOWARD FUSION.  See, they’re environmentalists, right?  Also… given their reputation – Like LaRouche himself, the CEC is perpetually on message, preaching imminent crisis. — they’re not the ones to try to parody chicken little environmentalist politics.

IV.  Bob Baker at Kansas Cattlemen’s Association will host annual convention and trade show in Newton.

V.  When a telephoned bomb threat disrupted a lecture by Congressman Paul Findley, a critic of Israel, we continued the presentation in a stairwell. When followers of radical Lyndon LaRouche tried to break up a meeting, we removed them from the premises. We never, ever gave in to bullying.

VII.  Some even go as far as to say that 440Hz can incite fear and/or anger, and was a ploy devised by the Nazis in the Second World War.

Richard A. Black, a long-time member of The Schiller Institute in New York… feeds Chinese media outlets.

VIII.  While Larouche gets a photograph here, Jim Jones, David Koresh, and Charles Manson get headline notices.  Steve Hassen and the “cult” line in politics — goes back to some commentary on Obama (by no less than infamous right wing Republican hack Paul Krugman), and before in one way, and in one way always a little true — if it’s even more true now, you can discuss.  As Steve Hassen credentials himself.
