John McCain wants to bomb Iran.

“You know that old Beach Boys song, ‘Bomb Iran’… Bomb Bomb Bomb…”

So goes the John McCain campaign.  John McCain has come out to tell those who responded to this quip aghastly to … “GET A LIFE!”
There appears to be a bit of confusion, found with the Washington Post sentence of While campaigning for president in South Carolina on Wednesday, McCain responded to a question about how to deal with Iran by breaking into the melody of the Beach Boys song “Barbara Ann” but changing the lyrics to “Bomb Iran.”.  While obvious, the song was a popular parody played all over morning drive radio during the Iran Hostage Crisis.  McCain not take credit for “changing the lyrics”, as he was not singing “the old Beach boy song” but was by… who knows who?  Goddamned Wikipedia gives me no answer, except perhaps a flagged for “Check closely” page on “anti-Iran sentiment” which says it is … a Beach Boys song.  Which it can’t be.  Can it?

John McCain is not going to be the next president of the United States.

Senator McCain is apparently getting forgetful. Last year when Senator John Kerry botched a joke about George Bush McCain and other Bush ditty heads said the remark was a slap against all US soldiers and marines. It wasn’t but that didn’t stop the ranting McCain.

Now he is upset that people are upset with his bomb iran joke/ I guess John can dish it out but he can’t take it. That on top of his visit to Irag heavily protected and telling us we all should take a walk in the park over there. John, get out of the race now before you really embarass yourself

“John McCain is not going to be the next president?”

Before you get locked into that logic, consider Reagan’s quip, uttered into a microphone and now famous: “My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.”

Reagan went on to become the single most popular president in the history of the United States.

Uh. Huh. Where to begin? Actually where to middle and end as well.

The annoying thing here is the hyperbole. “Reagan went on to become the single most popular president in the history of the United States.” I think there was a poll recently that showed Reagan on top of the heap, which I’m confident a poll with the same exact sample would not have in done right now. My guess is the answer would be George Washington.

At any rate, I reiterate, based on any number of facets of his campaign and the current electorate: John McCain is not going to be the next president. I cannot say that about the other Republican candidates.
