{"id":8223,"date":"2011-05-22T14:28:08","date_gmt":"2011-05-22T21:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=8223"},"modified":"2011-05-22T14:36:41","modified_gmt":"2011-05-22T21:36:41","slug":"herman-cain-is-so-your-candiate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2011\/05\/22\/herman-cain-is-so-your-candiate\/","title":{"rendered":"Herman Cain is SO YOUR CANDIDATE!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com\/2011\/05\/21\/breaking-herman-cain-announces-2012-candidacy\/?hpt=T2\">Using an urban phrase used to convey a sense of  excitement, radio host and businessman<\/a> Herman Cain emerged to throngs  of supporters on Saturday and formally announced his presidential bid. &#8220;Awww shucky ducky,&#8221; the conservative Republican joked with the crowd  in Atlanta&#8217;s Centennial Olympic Park as he stepped out to applause and  adoring chants.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I did not know about the phrase &#8220;awww shucky ducky&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 Or maybe I did but didn&#8217;t assimilate it.\u00c2\u00a0 A google search shows it a comedian &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shuckey_Duckey\">has only a stub of a wikipedia page<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;He is known for the catch phrase &#8220;Shuckey Duckey Quack Quack.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 I assume Herman Cain can get away with it &#8212; didn&#8217;t appropriate too much of the routine.\u00c2\u00a0 If not, I look forward to the version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=s4k13LmlcUE\">Charlie Crist apologizing to David Byrne<\/a> (and theoretically the other three Talking Heads).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aGlcGAkfNFI\">Hm<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Now I vaguely remember him.\u00c2\u00a0 Herman Cain left out the &#8220;Quack Quack&#8221; &#8212; that might have better spurred my memory.\u00c2\u00a0 I assume that this is the type of pop culture reference that will consolidate Herman Cain&#8217;s hold on the Black Republican electorate.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-8224\" title=\"hermancainannounces\" src=\"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/hermancainannounces-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6E0ZCzF0qd4\"> CSPAN aired his announcement speech<\/a>, with a &#8220;call in&#8221; afterward.\u00c2\u00a0 I want to hear the callers and catch the pulse of CSPAN Herman Cain Announcement Viewers reactions to the presidential run of Herman Cain.\u00c2\u00a0 Do I have to dig through CSPAN, and was there any dead air on that one?<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Right here, this day, this hour and this moment, I have looked  inside of me. I came here to declare my candidacy for the Republican  nomination for president of the United States of America,&#8221; Cain said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;And just to be clear, in case you accidentally listen to a skeptic,  let me say it again, I&#8217;m running for president of the United States.   And I&#8217;m not running for second,&#8221; he added.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Running for second&#8221; either suggests running for the Vice Presidential pick, or running to gain traction for a 2016 bid.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a good thing he&#8217;s not running for veep, because I sort of assume the Republican Party will nominate Marco Rubio for Vice-President for crash electorate picking purposes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ajc.com\/jay-bookman-blog\/2011\/05\/17\/herman-cain-isnt-legitimate-presidential-candidate\/\">Hm<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The objective of the liberals is to destroy this country,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he told a  conservative conference in Washington in February. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The objective of  the liberals is to make America mediocre. \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s their objective.  Well, let me tell you something about mediocrity. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not in an  American\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s DNA to be mediocre.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>To Americans worried that their country might be losing its status as  an economic and military superpower \u00e2\u20ac\u201d a fear that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all too justified \u00e2\u20ac\u201d  such words resonate. However, it is not the rhetoric of a man capable  of becoming president.
