{"id":7975,"date":"2011-04-21T17:06:56","date_gmt":"2011-04-22T00:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=7975"},"modified":"2011-04-21T17:06:56","modified_gmt":"2011-04-22T00:06:56","slug":"everyones-politics-are-dreadful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2011\/04\/21\/everyones-politics-are-dreadful\/","title":{"rendered":"everyone&#8217;s politics are dreadful"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So on April 15 the Tea Party was holding forth a rally at Pioneer Square.\u00c2\u00a0 I imagine any number of the participants there could jump on over to see the Atlas Shrugged Movie.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blogtown.portlandmercury.com\/BlogtownPDX\/archives\/2011\/04\/15\/the-oregon-tea-party-is-really-living-the-spirit-of-mlk\">And so it goes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153In light of the recent violence experienced by Tea Partiers at events  across the nation carried out by union supporters, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re asking all  Oregon Tea Partiers to take Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 1963 Pledge of  Nonviolence,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Jeff Reynolds, Multnomah County Republican Party  chairman. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Any anti-Tea Party violence will be met by an even keel of  truth and justice.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Y<\/em>ep, they&#8217;ve developed an alternate storyline of things.\u00c2\u00a0 The age of the Internet will have them on high alert to extrapolate from any random incident.\u00c2\u00a0 Groups of marauding Unions are en throll.<\/p>\n<p>I listened to about five minutes of someone.\u00c2\u00a0 I had a flashback.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;And don&#8217;t forget the Military &#8212; which is responsible for allowing us this freedom here.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Said in a threatening ambiance, as a &#8220;Don&#8217;t you dare cut from the Pentagon&#8217;s wish list.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 To their credit, a couple of Senators and Congress-men attached to said &#8220;Tea Party&#8221; are willing to go there, to a place which anyone serious about the deficit has to go.\u00c2\u00a0 They&#8217;re not in this group.<\/p>\n<p>The flashback I had was to the &#8220;Support the Troop&#8221; rallies, better thought of as <em>anti-war protests<\/em> (as opposed to war protests they were counter-programming.)\u00c2\u00a0 What&#8217;s missing is the country band.<\/p>\n<p><em>The event features Brian Futch and the local Patriotic group, We the  Band.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hm.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;We the Band&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 Is that like &#8220;Up With People&#8221;?\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;d like to say the issues are being tossed in to and fro, but I guess it&#8217;s how we&#8217;ve gotten the matters divided.<\/p>\n<p>I saw a hand scribbled note, off a heavily trafficked Max stop.\u00c2\u00a0 Here&#8217;s how it read &#8220;Hey Meeker, I found Snitzer!\u00c2\u00a0 Please email me quick&#8221; &#8212; and I made those two names up, but the email address given was something to the effect of &#8220;redMao@&#8221; whatever email dot come.\u00c2\u00a0 I know not much about the person who put this note up, or why s\/he couldn&#8217;t have some other lines of communication (not beyond email), but I do have a guess about redMao&#8217;s politics.\u00c2\u00a0 Though if my first guess is that s\/he wasn&#8217;t at the Tea Party rally or Atlas Shrugged movie, I do note when I have looked over the anarchist book store and library (look up the name yourownself), it does have Ayn Rand in the library &#8212;
