{"id":7404,"date":"2011-01-11T12:59:55","date_gmt":"2011-01-11T19:59:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=7404"},"modified":"2011-01-11T12:59:55","modified_gmt":"2011-01-11T19:59:55","slug":"grammar-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2011\/01\/11\/grammar-control\/","title":{"rendered":"grammar control?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The killer&#8217;s political bent is about what you would expect: deeper on the &#8220;Nuts&#8221; end of the &#8220;Nuts&#8221; \/ &#8220;Sane&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0axis than any &#8220;right&#8221; \/ &#8220;left&#8221; axis.\u00c2\u00a0 No, he is not a &#8220;Tea Party&#8221; participant &#8212; falling outside even the &#8220;Nuts \/ Tea Party&#8221; axis of, for instance, some guy I saw on youtube in a &#8220;Pass the Bullhorn&#8221; session going off on 9\/11.\u00c2\u00a0 The effect of our politicized culture is that we see stammerings of misinformation &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/201101100010\">a fake facebook page to tie him in\u00c2\u00a0as supporting\u00c2\u00a0Obama<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0or quickly and easily verified as false ties to such and such an anti-government right-wing\u00c2\u00a0Extremist group.\u00c2\u00a0 (The latter is the product of our media culture demand for immediate gratification, the former a product of political defensiveness.)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is\u00c2\u00a0possible to track a lot of his &#8220;politics&#8221;, such as they are, and they lead out from points from which the Tea Party (such as it is) have drawn.\u00c2\u00a0 The influences are re-assembled in a mad pastiche from out of the nation&#8217;s\u00c2\u00a0broader protest (sure, the tone set by it as well) for a man not in control of his life and painfully aware of that.\u00c2\u00a0 Sure, it is political by definition &#8212; he shot a politician &#8212; and the concerns expressed to the politician were reflections of his existential crisis:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/motherjones.com\/politics\/2011\/01\/jared-lee-loughner-friend-voicemail-phone-message#\">\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u009dHe told me that she opened up the floor for questions and he asked a question.
