Two weeks back, I brought up this Great Divisional race<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I bailed off of last week, because the two division leaders won their game and brought themselves back to .500.\u00c2\u00a0 Unfortunately, this erased the last hurdle to 6-10.\u00c2\u00a0 This week brings us back to the satisfying status quo.\u00c2\u00a0 The three-cornered race looks like this:<\/p>\n

Saint Louis Rams: six wins, seven losses
\nSeattle Seahawks: six wins, seven losses
\nSan Francisco 49ers: five wins, eight losses
\nArizona Cardinals: four wins, nine losses<\/p>\n

To recap the games played this week, for Saint Louis<\/a>:<\/p>\n

After the blowout loss, coach Spagnuolo wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t in the mood to talk about his team\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s playoff chances. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think that we played well. That\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s kind of obvious. The message to the team was that if you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t protect the football and you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tackle well on defense, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hard to beat any team, let alone one of the best teams in the league.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n

When asked about the Rams still being tied for first place in the NFC West, Spagnuolo replied, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think about that. To be honest with you maybe tomorrow I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll wake up and look at it. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m very proud of this football team in what they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re doing. I just don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s us. We all have a little bit of pride in playing a very good football team. You certainly want to match that.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n

For Seattle:<\/a><\/p>\n

Three things we learned\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0a) Matt Hasselbeck remains turnover-prone.\u00c2\u00a0 b) The Seahawks have found consistency the past seven games.\u00c2\u00a0 That’s not a good thing.\u00c2\u00a0 c) Charlie Whitehurst isn’t considered a viable alternative to Hasselbeck right now.<\/em><\/p>\n

For San Francisco –\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t know.\u00c2\u00a0 Look around the comments section and you’ll see 49ers fans gloating in most surreal fashion.<\/p>\n

A look at the coming schedule and the Dream of the 7-9 Division Championship is looking very promising.<\/p>\n

For Saint Louis:\u00c2\u00a0 Kansas City, San Francisco, At Seattle.
\nFor Seattle:\u00c2\u00a0 Atlanta, At Tampa Bay, St. Louis
\nFor San Francisco:\u00c2\u00a0 At San Diego, At St. Louis, Arizona<\/p>\n

That’s three divisional games and three games where the opposing team will be favored to win.\u00c2\u00a0 A reasonable forecast, one where San Francisco\u00c2\u00a0is the victor\u00c2\u00a0at Saint Louis, and the teams will all come into the final week, Seattle and\u00c2\u00a0Saint Louis\u00c2\u00a0and San Francisco all sit at 6 and 9,\u00c2\u00a0 Should Saint Louis win that game against the 49ers, the suspense will continue on to the final week of the season.<\/p>\n

In other sports news, the Metrodome caved in<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 The Viking’s remaining home games will be played in Detroit, which as always pierces the absurdity of spectator sports –\u00c2\u00a0there is no\u00c2\u00a0particular reason the team needs to play in Minnesota, the Mad Max future where the future where the teams are named after not geographical locations but corporate entities is coming down the pike quickly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
