Others called for a Fair Tax \u00e2\u20ac\u201d a national sales tax to replace the income tax \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and a repeal of the health care bill passed in March. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Down our throats on March 21st,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d one sign said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153up yours on Nov. 2nd.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But others reflected anger about illegal immigration \u00e2\u20ac\u201d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Uncle Sam wants you to speak English,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d read one \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and the planned Islamic cultural center near ground zero, which many Tea Party supporters have rallied against. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Obama Creates Jobs at Ground Zero,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d read one sign, over a picture of a mosque.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rudepundit.blogspot.com\/2010\/09\/brief-note-regarding-hallowed-ground.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6842\" title=\"911pingpongballs\" src=\"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/911pingpongballs.jpg\" alt=\"911pingpongballs\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/911pingpongballs.jpg 480w, http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/911pingpongballs-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was skitting about the talk radio landscape, tuning into the Republican Conservative debate over the Delaware Senate Primary being held today.\u00c2\u00a0 This is the one that is going to decide whether Mike Castle will be pushed aside for a long time perenial candidate, and one time Abstinence Activist.<\/p>\n<p>Suddenly, this guy is a &#8220;Liberal&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-6844\" title=\"mikecastle\" src=\"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/mikecastle-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"mikecastle\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Conservative Activists have &#8220;discovered&#8221; that this man, Mike Castle, sided with\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/spectator.org\/blog\/2010\/09\/14\/castle-vote-to-impeach-bush\">Kucinich to Impeach Bush<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 A gold mine of comedy, <a href=\"http:\/\/mediamatters.org\/blog\/201009140019\">that claim<\/a>.<br \/>\nIt could be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/bensmith\/0910\/ODonnell_backer_makes_sex_charge_in_Delaware_race.html?showall\">worse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It does not much help that\u00c2\u00a0prominent\u00c2\u00a0liberal activists are itching to claim <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/storyonly\/2010\/9\/10\/900745\/-Snowes-future:-switch-parties-or-perish\">some of these candidates<\/a>, oddly justifying the\u00c2\u00a0warped position\u00c2\u00a0where your Mark Levines are drawing &#8220;right&#8221; and &#8220;left&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mike_Castle\">From wikipedia<\/a>.:<\/p>\n<p><em>Castle\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s terms marked the full establishment of what Delaware political commentator Celia Cohen has called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the Age of Incumbency.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Following du Pont\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s very successful and popular terms as Governor, Delaware politics seemed to have reached a consensus, with leaders of both parties being regularly re-elected, while working closely and quietly together on a conservative fiscal low tax, pro business, and clean government agenda. Prior to du Pont only four men had served eight years as Governor and one of those had two non-consecutive terms. From 1977 until the present there have been four governors, two from each party, each emulating Castle in essentially carrying out the program initiated by Pierre S. du Pont, IV.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Things harrow back toward:<br \/>\n<em>Castle\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s cosponsored the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act. The bill proposed expanding the number of stem cell lines that are eligible for federally funded research, expecting that this funding would generate more research and ultimately greater progress in addressing many kinds of diseases.<br \/>\n<\/em>Still pushing it.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/ap\/article\/ALeqM5hh9_1A58H__o5p6mFMpyk9fJ1GcQD9I780N01\">Right now, in fact<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006, the Senate candidate who found himself squeezed in the middle, narrowly won a primary battle before losing in the general, was Lincoln Chafee.\u00c2\u00a0 Now an Independent favor for governor of Rhode Island.\u00c2\u00a0 Funny, though &#8212; the vote that is most memorable from his record was the lone Republican vote against the Iraq War.<\/p>\n<p>I recall hearing &#8212; at the time the Tea Party\u00c2\u00a0trumped over\u00c2\u00a0to a third party challenge in the NY 23 Special Election &#8212; that the significant thing about the whole movement was a focus on &#8220;Fiscal&#8221; matters &#8212; the deficit and taxes.\u00c2\u00a0 Probably taxes over the deficit, as we seem to be learning.\u00c2\u00a0 Prudence, that!\u00c2\u00a0 No social or cultural issues are shifting into the main.<\/p>\n<p>Mostly I&#8217;m just reminded of the Republican Senators who came in in the year 2004: Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn.\u00c2\u00a0 Are there just more of them this time out?<\/p>\n<p>Well, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theblaze.com\/blog\/2010\/09\/12\/thoughts-from-glenn-on-the-burning-of-books-and-flags\/\">hope is there<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0in the voice of moderation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hm.
