{"id":6795,"date":"2010-09-10T01:00:01","date_gmt":"2010-09-10T08:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=6795"},"modified":"2010-09-11T12:12:40","modified_gmt":"2010-09-11T19:12:40","slug":"6795","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2010\/09\/10\/6795\/","title":{"rendered":"The Dining Room Table Debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The most eagerly anticipated political debate in ages.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wickedlocal.com\/newton\/2010\/09\/07\/barney-frank-vs-rachel-brown\/#comment-58293\"><em>Please tell me it will be on somebody\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s website!<\/em><\/a><br \/>\nOh yeah, baby.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s up there.\u00c2\u00a0 All over the place.\u00c2\u00a0 Both the Larouchepac and Rachel Brown campaign sites have it.\u00c2\u00a0 , as well New TV and Wicked Local.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Barney Frank is so chicken, <a href=\"http:\/\/barney2010.com\/videos\/barney-debates-issues-and-criticizes-lyndon-larouche-candidate-tactics\">all he is willing to do is place the local newscast report of it up<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 (Warning: the pop up of\u00c2\u00a0Barney Frank\u00c2\u00a0giving a verbal &#8220;Thanks for Visiting my Web Page.&#8221; is a little unnerving.)<\/p>\n<p>A little historical perspective for the Great Barney Frank versus Rachel Brown Debate.:<\/p>\n<p>In 1959, Vice President Richard Nixon\u00c2\u00a0and Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev held a series of exchanges for the\u00c2\u00a0opening of the American National Exhibition at Sokolniki Park in Moscow, framed for televised consumption.\u00c2\u00a0 Nixon pounded the theme of the superiority of America&#8217;s Consumer Lifestyle.\u00c2\u00a0 It was dubbed the\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;Kitchen Debate&#8221;, but is occasionally referenced as &#8220;The Kitchen Table Debate&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 For our purposes here, it&#8217;s the &#8220;Kitchen Table&#8221; debate.<\/p>\n<p>Five decades passed before the metaphor of a &#8220;table&#8221; would be incorporated as a metaphor for a debate.\u00c2\u00a0 The first part of the debate was held in August of 2009.\u00c2\u00a0 And then came\u00c2\u00a0the second part,\u00c2\u00a0on Tuesday, September 7, in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, where Barney Frank held forth against Rachel Brown in the second part of &#8220;Dining Room Table&#8221; debate.<\/p>\n<p>The stakes of the debate are huge for Frank and Brown:\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0In\u00c2\u00a0March of 2010, the 22nd Congressional District of Texas\u00c2\u00a0nominated a candidate in Texas, by the name of Kesha Rogers.\u00c2\u00a0 The future was their&#8217;s.\u00c2\u00a0 And up before them lay a series of political tests.\u00c2\u00a0 Could Buseo crack\u00c2\u00a0an election result in Germany?\u00c2\u00a0 No.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bundeswahlleiter.de\/de\/bundestagswahlen\/BTW_BUND_09\/ergebnisse\/bundesergebnisse\/index.html\">They won .01 percent<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Then there was Australia.\u00c2\u00a0 Could the CEC pull through with\u00c2\u00a0literature <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electionleaflets.org.au\/leaflets\/144\/\">like this<\/a>?\u00c2\u00a0 No.\u00c2\u00a0 The CEC got 0.07% of the lower house vote (that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a swing of -0.15%) and 0.13% in the senate (swing of +0.06%).<br \/>\nIf the International Scene looked bleak, the American electorate looks even more hostile to the Larouche\u00c2\u00a0program since the smashing\u00c2\u00a0high-point victory of Kesha Rogers.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The candidate in San Francisco, one Summer Shields, was not even able to get on\u00c2\u00a0the ballot &#8212; and is reduced to running against Spongebob Squarepants for write-in votes.<br \/>\nThe only chance to regain momentum,\u00c2\u00a0and turn this debacle around, lies with Rachel Brown&#8217;s campaign against Barney Frank.<\/p>\n<p>The stakes for Barney Frank?\u00c2\u00a0 He has played it cool, and denies .\u00c2\u00a0 It is a sign of the difficult political climate that Barney Frank felt the need to open up a Campaign office for the first time in years.\u00c2\u00a0 Should the election results be just a tad worse than expected for his party, the specter of Scott Brown looms over him.\u00c2\u00a0 But this opposition lies with his probable Republican opponent &#8212; one <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/news\/opinion\/editorials\/view.bg?articleid=1280305&amp;srvc=rss\">Sean Bielet<\/a>, a politically convienent Democrat turned Republican.\u00c2\u00a0 It appears for all the world that Barney Frank is taking his primary opposition lightly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2010\/09\/rep-barney-frank-finally-debates-the-dining-room-table-rachel-brown-video.php\"><em>It is still unknown whether he practiced on his tables at home beforehand.<\/em><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0&#8212; Oh, you didn&#8217;t do your research.<br \/>\n<em>&#8220;I don&#8217;t plan to spend a lot of time on her. I think the notion that we should colonize Mars is not one I need to spend much time addressing. Or the fact that the president is like Hitler, or not like Hitler,&#8221; Frank told POLITICO.\u00c2\u00a0 [&#8230;]\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Frank didn&#8217;t do any debate prep, spokesman Harry Gural said.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Who would you get to play her? She would have to play herself,&#8221; he said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nobody believes you,\u00c2\u00a0Barney Frank.\u00c2\u00a0 In reality, Rachel Brown&#8217;s and Barney Frank&#8217;s Debate Prepping looked\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=blTnT2kOz4E&amp;feature=related\">like this<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the Rachel Brown contingent came in for a rally.\u00c2\u00a0 The Barney Frank contingent came in for a rally.\u00c2\u00a0 The sights and <a href=\"http:\/\/wwwanapaulina.blogspot.com\/2010\/09\/congressman-barney-frank-roast.html\">sounds<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Hm.\u00c2\u00a0 Notice the difference between Brown&#8217;s contingency and Frank&#8217;s.\u00c2\u00a0 Could it be &#8212; could it be &#8212; that the Brown group is more committed and motivated than the Frank contingency, thus auguring for a Surprise Upset on Tuesday?<br \/>\nAlso, we have that ever present\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegram.com\/article\/20100909\/COLUMN01\/9090774\">generational difference in groupings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Of course she does. Self-assured and brimming with confidence, Rachel Brown is also the price we pay for rearing the Entitlement Generation, those smug, deluded young people raised on a daily regimen of unearned praise and flattery from their misguided Baby Boomer parents.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hm.\u00c2\u00a0 You know?\u00c2\u00a0 May I make a request.\u00c2\u00a0 Please don&#8217;t bring Larouchies into a discussion of sociological gripes about the rearing of generations, even as extreme examples of cultural missives.<br \/>\nAnyway, I hear The Baby Boomer Generation is all Spock&#8217;s fault.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I want to spend time on Mars,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the Quincy resident told me. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153But it would be a project over centuries.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Can we wait that long?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<br \/>\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Well, we can certainly develop small colonies before that. It will be a stepping stone to develop other parts of the solar system. It would be a driver for the economy.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<br \/>\nRaised in Seattle, her father worked for Boeing and her mom ran day care from their home. And the tea party wonders why it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s so often scorned?\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/political-buzz-in-dallas\/barney-frank-vs-rachel-brown-s-impeach-obama-campaign-video\">See<\/a>:<br \/>\n<em>Frank, the 15th term Democrat representative,\u00c2\u00a0 is not taking Brown the Candidate\u00c2\u00a0 any more seriously than he took Brown the Town Hall Participant. Never a man of princely tendencies, it&#8217;s no surprise that Frank isn&#8217;t prepared\u00c2\u00a0 to take the high road; already he&#8217;s saying\u00c2\u00a0 she&#8217;s irrational.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;<em><a href=\"http:\/\/politizine.blogspot.com\/2010\/09\/moderating-brown-vs-frank-debate.html\">What are they doing to stop Obama&#8217;s Hitler Health Care Policies<\/a><\/em>?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The reviews are in.\u00c2\u00a0 First from LPAC.<\/p>\n<p><em>At the conclusion of Tuesday night&#8217;s debate between LaRouche Democrat Rachel Brown and Rep. Barney Frank, Brown&#8217;s campaign manager, Jenny Getachew, summarized the outcome: &#8220;The Earth just tilted a little bit more on its axis. In our direction!&#8221; [&#8230;]<br \/>\nLyndon LaRouche commented that the Obama White House is going to be particularly hysterical over the fact that Brown&#8217;s reference to Obama as a &#8220;ticking time bomb,&#8221; was covered in an AP wire that was published in the Washington Post.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Then there&#8217;s Brown in her post-debate press:\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/09\/07\/AR2010090702835.html\">I hope I did better than a piece of furniture,&#8221; <\/a><em><br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nThe reviews aren&#8217;t all that encouraging.\u00c2\u00a0 See, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.delawareliberal.net\/2010\/09\/08\/wednesdays-asshat-of-the-day-4\/\">Asshat of the Day<\/a>&#8220;.\u00c2\u00a0 (throw the, &#8220;where were you when some people called Bush &#8220;Hitler&#8221;?&#8221; if you must.)<br \/>\n<em>Brown also wants to colonize Mars. She believes this will help solve the economic problems we are having. Wonder if she wears a purple robe and Nike\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s when she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not out in public, waiting for a spaceship to take her there?<br \/>\n<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/joemygod.blogspot.com\/2010\/09\/remember-this-nutjob-woman.html\"><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153No! Please, no. Wow.\u00c2\u00a0 Is he still alive?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s got <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/Elizabeth1776\">this supporter<\/a>, of course.\u00c2\u00a0 <em>Wednesday Midday Report: Democratic candidate Rachel Brown defeated Barney Frank in a debate yesterday. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>There is a decent amount of the &#8220;Rather take the crazy one than &#8211;&#8221; sentiment.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/WalterGa\">Perhaps this mocking slap at Barney<\/a>:\u00c2\u00a0 <em>I did not say I&#8217;d pick Brown over Frank. I don&#8217;t live in the district. I said that she was less dangerous than he is<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And, <a href=\"http:\/\/americasright.com\/?p=5542\">oh, please.<\/a> <em><br \/>\nThey look down their noses, even at people of their own party, who dare try to get them to explain themselves for what they are doing to this country. This man must be defeated. This primary is close approaching, Sept 14.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As a huge fan of Roman history, this woman&#8217;s analogies piss me off.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/online\/rep-barney-frank-finally-debates-the-dining-room-table-rachel-brown\/\">Yes, Rachel Brown is every crazy girl we ever dated in college. Which makes Barney Frank our sloppy roommate who got in fights with her. There are good arguments proving Democratic corruption, and this woman will not make them. Instead, she will drag out every strawman argument employed by the left while her political ventriloquist dandles her on their knee. This demonstrates the contempt our ruling class has for the populace and the inefficiency of the national GOP for not being more committed to claiming scalps in these midterm elections.
