Carney revealed that former senator and Republican presidential nominee  Bob Dole contributed $1,000 to Crist&#8217;s Senate campaign against GOP  nominee Marco Rubio.  Carney provided the Federal Election Commission  record documenting Dole&#8217;s cash donation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Bob Dole is busting out all over!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonindependent.com\/95563\/why-is-chuck-hagel-endorsing-joe-sestak\">Chuck Hagel is endorsing Joe Sestak in Pennsylvania<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 This will surely galvanize the Nebraskans who live in Pennsylvania around Sestak, a crucial swing vote in the state.\u00c2\u00a0 It is telling that the coverage on Hagel&#8217;e endorsement runs to the &#8220;what is he trying to purchase&#8221; route &#8212; a job in the Obama Pentagon? &#8212; as opposed to something about favoring Sestak.<\/p>\n<p>Meantime, the culture war was declared dead a few months ago by Mitch Daniels, if I recall.\u00c2\u00a0 Oddly, a hub-ub over a mosque in New York City.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/nky.cincinnati.com\/article\/AB\/20100816\/NEWS0103\/8150392\/Mosque-proposal-criticized\">Another one in Kentucky<\/a>, somewhere quite far from &#8220;Ground Zero&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 I grow weary.\u00c2\u00a0 Either we&#8217;re making distinctions about Islam in the &#8220;War on Terror&#8221;, or we&#8217;re not.\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/religion.blogs.cnn.com\/2010\/08\/20\/my-take-why-arent-more-mormons-supporting-islamic-center\/\">Either<\/a>&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com\/the_daily_dish\/2010\/08\/the-good-ones-are-not-ones.html\">Either<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Actually that last link posits an interesting point.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;ve two Republican &#8220;star&#8221; Indians &#8212; soon to be Governor Haley, and Governor Jindal.\u00c2\u00a0 Bobby Jindal proved his converted Christian bonafides &#8212; though by way of Catholicism, in Catholic state of Louisiana &#8212; by performing an exorcism.\u00c2\u00a0 Haley <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politicsdaily.com\/2010\/06\/05\/nikki-haley-under-fire-stresses-christian-faith-over-sikh-herit\/\">had to do this<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So we have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/opinion\/index.ssf\/2010\/08\/mosque_dont_blame_friends_for.html\">Jeff Merkley<\/a>, Senator of Oregon.\u00c2\u00a0 We have <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/blog-briefing-room\/news\/115017-franken-slams-mosque-opponents\">Al Franken<\/a>, Senator of Minnesota.\u00c2\u00a0 Neither are Reid, Schumer, or Durbin &#8212; the Democratic Leaders in the Senate &#8212; both kind of marginally deigned by our political conventional wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s Primary day.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be closely watching the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tulsatoday.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=1991:former-opponents-endorse-thompson-for-2nd-district&amp;catid=60:state&amp;Itemid=108\">meaningless Republican run-off in Oklahoma to decide who loses to Representative Boren in November<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Newsmax aims its vitrol at Bob Dole: The statement came the same day Washington Examiner columnist Timothy P.
