{"id":5248,"date":"2009-12-30T20:37:36","date_gmt":"2009-12-31T03:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=5248"},"modified":"2009-12-30T20:37:36","modified_gmt":"2009-12-31T03:37:36","slug":"inane-statements-toward-centrism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2009\/12\/30\/inane-statements-toward-centrism\/","title":{"rendered":"inane statements toward centrism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2009\/12\/13\/AR2009121302526.html?wpisrc=newsletter\">The idiocy of the definitions toward &#8220;Centrism&#8221;.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Moderates don&#8217;t tend to win presidential nominations &#8212; see <span id=\"lw_1262230490_0\">Joe Lieberman<\/span> or <span id=\"lw_1262230490_1\">Rudy Giuliani<\/span> &#8212; and, given that <span id=\"lw_1262230490_2\">Bayh<\/span> has been seriously considered as a <span id=\"lw_1262230490_3\" style=\"background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer;\">running mate<\/span>and then passed over twice in the past eight years, it&#8217;s hard to see the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee putting him on his or her shortlist.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We have been saved the Evan Bayh Presidency, which seems to be a good thing.\u00c2\u00a0 But&#8230; what the heck is this &#8220;moderates don&#8217;t tend to win presidential nominations&#8221; business?\u00c2\u00a0 Arguably John McCain once staked his reputation as something (medialy, at least).\u00c2\u00a0 Then we have George Herbert Walker Bush who won one in 1988, Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996, Jimmy Carter in 1976, Richard Nixon in 1960 and 1968, and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Evan Bayh and Joseph Lieberman just kind of stink.<br \/>\nThen there&#8217;s the problem that &#8220;Centrism&#8221; has no meaning that I&#8217;ve been able to decipher.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The idiocy of the definitions toward &#8220;Centrism&#8221;.
