Who gets C-Span 3?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to this &#8220;Yahoo News&#8221;&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ynews\/20090715\/ts_ynews\/ynews_ts434_395\">compilation of AP &#8220;scoreboard&#8221; reporters<\/a>, the winners of the Kabuki Dance Supreme Court nomination hearing performancees are\u00c2\u00a0Sonia Sotomayer, Jeff Sessions, and Lindsey Graham.\u00c2\u00a0 And the losers are Sotomayer, Sessions, and Graham.<\/p>\n<p>How Sessions looks particularly good\u00c2\u00a0in these hearings, I cannot tell you.\u00c2\u00a0 Jeff Sessions as the Republican chair of the committee is one line of evidence that maybe the former head, Arlen Specter, was quite sincere in his partisan switch and aiding his new party.\u00c2\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2009\/07\/specter-sestak-a-hypocrite-for-calling-himself-the-true-democrat-in-pa-senate-race.php\">Gist for the Specter &#8212; Sestack war of partisan loyalties, I suppose<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0&#8212; though, this would be too obscure a point.)<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Winners and Losers&#8221; is\u00c2\u00a0a pointless way to dissemble the news coverage.\u00c2\u00a0 It may or may not be worth mentioning that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/ap\/article\/ALeqM5jloOMp2PSUAcGMTNsmJ8As6TQ22wD99F5AS80\">Google\u00c2\u00a0Associated Press link<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0for this story shows that yahoo edited it down.\u00c2\u00a0 And it&#8217;s worth mentioning that that here Tom Coburn&#8217;s reference to\u00c2\u00a0Ricky Ricardo is brushed\u00c2\u00a0away from Tom Coburn, the better not to make a judgement call on Senator Coburn.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom of the pile, after a mass of career lawyers, Al Franken spoke.\u00c2\u00a0 He refuses to say anything funny.\u00c2\u00a0 Drudge threw this link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2009\/jul\/14\/a-clown-for-all-seasons-arrives-just-in-time\/?feat=home_top5_read\">Wes Pruden<\/a>, a little ironic because of <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=igqMIP7OjrAC&amp;pg=PA175&amp;lpg=PA175&amp;dq=%22Franken%22+%22Pruden%22&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=AsnVNWS5Tx&amp;sig=qmPumPzmfQNP-uVg0jbN2Y0LNfY&amp;hl=en&amp;ei=lV9eSumaJJP6Me_zsa4C&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=book_result&amp;ct=result&amp;resnum=11\">this<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0One of these days, Al Franken will slip up and make a gaffe by saying something not earnest and identifiably humourous.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0The\u00c2\u00a0front page\u00c2\u00a0of the local paper reads <em>Sotomayer:\u00c2\u00a0 We Are Not Robots<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 A fascinating statement.\u00c2\u00a0 A google news search for the phrase shows 14,760 results with those words, headed &#8212; oddly enough &#8212; by a favorable item from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pww.org\/article\/articleview\/16377\/\">a Communist news source<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;We are not robots&#8221;, a response to the problems\u00c2\u00a0held against\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;empathy&#8221; <em>(&#8220;Empathize on my behind&#8221;).\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>So\u00c2\u00a0she supplied at\u00c2\u00a0least have one mildly amusing phrase.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to this &#8220;Yahoo News&#8221;&#8216;s compilation of AP &#8220;scoreboard&#8221; reporters, the winners of the Kabuki Dance Supreme Court nomination hearing performancees are\u00c2\u00a0Sonia Sotomayer, Jeff Sessions, and Lindsey Graham.\u00c2\u00a0 And the losers are Sotomayer, Sessions, and Graham.
