{"id":3860,"date":"2009-04-26T08:39:30","date_gmt":"2009-04-26T15:39:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=3860"},"modified":"2009-04-26T08:39:30","modified_gmt":"2009-04-26T15:39:30","slug":"2012-republican-presidential-cattle-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2009\/04\/26\/2012-republican-presidential-cattle-call\/","title":{"rendered":"2012 Republican Presidential Cattle Call"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s never too early to concoct a &#8220;Cattle Call&#8221; ranking for the 2012 Republican presidential hopefuls.<\/p>\n<p>Well, actually, yes.\u00c2\u00a0 Yes it is.\u00c2\u00a0 Absurdly early.\u00c2\u00a0 Not only that, but even in the &#8220;thick&#8221; of\u00c2\u00a0early 2012 it would be a little silly.\u00c2\u00a0 But, I do absurd!\u00c2\u00a0 Who&#8217;s up, who&#8217;s down, who&#8217;s what&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>#1:\u00c2\u00a0 Mitt Romney.\u00c2\u00a0 By default.<br \/>\n#2:\u00c2\u00a0 Newt Gingrich.\u00c2\u00a0 No,haschance.\u00c2\u00a0 But, as &#8220;Idea Man&#8221; for the Republicans has maintained his role.\u00c2\u00a0 Supplies the Republican party with plenty of ideas.\u00c2\u00a0 Just none of them are any good.<br \/>\n#3:\u00c2\u00a0 Bobby Jindal.\u00c2\u00a0 I think his volcano monoitoring statement will haunt him in the general election.\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know how his past Exorcism will work in today&#8217;s Republican Party.\u00c2\u00a0 Would it expose some anti-Catholic feeling from the fundamentalist tongue-speakers?<br \/>\n#4:\u00c2\u00a0 Mark Sanford.\u00c2\u00a0 A new line is out there:\u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Dated Paul, Married Sanford.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Granted, he&#8217;s pulled in some of Paul&#8217;s more establishment backing, and has excited a part of the Tea-party contingent, and is favorably viewed\u00c2\u00a0by today&#8217;s John Birch Society,\u00c2\u00a0but I don&#8217;t think he&#8217;ll ever get Paul&#8217;s 9\/11 Truth contingent.<br \/>\n#5:\u00c2\u00a0 Mike Huckabee.\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s risen in this thing.\u00c2\u00a0 Two things:\u00c2\u00a0 The Iowa ruling on same sex marriage has opened the door for him, but more importantly is the continued demise of<br \/>\n#6:\u00c2\u00a0 Sarah Palin.
