The \u201cuseless people\u201d referenced by the WEF advisor would be those who refuse to be injected with artificial intelligence capabilities in the coming decades. Describing humans as \u201chackable animals\u201d, Harari believes that \u201cthe masses\u201d would \u201cnot stand much of a chance\u201d against these changes even if they were to organize.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The problem is more boredom, what to do with them and how will they find some sense of meaning in life when they are basically meaningless, worthless,\u201d Harari continued. \u201cMy best guess at present is a combination of drugs and computer games.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That strikes me as a bias toward presentism, focusing in on moral panics of the moment. It takes a little bit of historic imagination to peer past latest video game products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actually I half think the Japanese man married to some anime character or other is a step ahead. Many an artist falls in love with their creation — will not let it die. If he is indeed living in a fantasy world, let the fantasy be a reflection of his imagination. And if he finds meaning in the wrong places, it is better than a lot of places people find false meanings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
