Your superb handling of <span id=\"lw_1239645983_2\" class=\"yshortcuts\" style=\"background: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; cursor: text; border-bottom: medium none;\">Letterman<\/span> may have changed a few minds out in Never-Never land.&#8221; Vincent Tordarello, New York City: &#8220;Bill, you rocked on Letterman. It was refreshing to see his propaganda smacked down.&#8221; Alan Skorski, West Hempstead, New York: &#8220;Hey, Bill, anyone who cozies up to Al Franken the way Letterman does, has no right to discuss truth telling.&#8221; Gerald Christensen, Huson, Montana: &#8220;Kudos to you, Bill, for holding your own with Letterman. Some of us out here wish he would pack up his house and take Tom Brokaw with him.&#8221; Mr. Letterman and Mr. Brokaw have homes in <span id=\"lw_1239645983_6\" class=\"yshortcuts\" style=\"background: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; cursor: hand; border-bottom: medium none;\">Montana<\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t quite know how someone can insert Al Franken&#8217;s name into this, and despite the Leno \/ Letterman difference in comfort level for political guests I don&#8217;t quite see how this can be positied as some sort of one-on-one &#8220;Crossfire&#8221; &#8220;Hardball&#8221; match-up.\u00c2\u00a0 But that&#8217;s the way O&#8217;Reilly rolls.<\/p>\n<p>On a later program, we find him discussing the election, and from the transcript.:<\/p>\n<p><em><span class=\"hit\">O<\/span>&#8216; <span class=\"hit\">REILLY<\/span>: Thirty-eight, 28 or whatever.<\/p>\n<p>WIEHL: Or whatever the number is.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hit\">O<\/span>&#8216; <span class=\"hit\">REILLY<\/span>: So this drags on for what.<\/p>\n<p>WIEHL: There&#8217;s no deadline in sight. Could be months, could be years.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hit\">O<\/span>&#8216; <span class=\"hit\">REILLY<\/span>: Let it go on for six years and then have another election, because you don&#8217;t want this pinhead Franken which really, come on, you know? You all know who he is. You want him in the Senate? Him?<\/p>\n<p>This?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I assume that with the &#8220;THIS&#8221; he&#8217;s waving clips\u00c2\u00a0of, say, Franken in a diaper on a SNL sketch or Franken on SNL doing the Keith Richards impression.\u00c2\u00a0 The answer is a, &#8220;Yep.\u00c2\u00a0 That.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 The reason&#8211; Al Franken&#8217;s qualifications for the US Senate?\u00c2\u00a0 He won an election.\u00c2\u00a0 He could be spouting off everything that Michelle Bachman has been saying, or he could be<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_Kelleher\"> Montana&#8217;s Finest, Bob Kelleher<\/a>, and his entry into the Senate Chambers would be just as necessitated.<\/p>\n<p>But, in the interest of stalling this seating, we have the viscarel argument of <em>&#8220;THIS?&#8221;<\/em>, which has a seductive quality, I suppose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interesting to note one Bill O&#8217;Reilly chiming in on the stalled placement of one Al Franken into the Senate.\u00c2\u00a0 First off, reading his assortment of letters &#8212; he apparently wowed his fans by socking it to David Letteron on Letterman&#8217;s show.
