It failed, of course. Miserably.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>From what I suppose we can call &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueoregon.com\/2008\/12\/75-years-since.html\">The Left<\/a>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<p><em>The Temperence Movement of the 19th Century would look familiar to us today.\u00c2\u00a0 The movement, led mainly by pious women, opposed alcohol on moral grounds.\u00c2\u00a0 They weren&#8217;t just trying to stop their no-account husbands from drinking away the family&#8217;s nest egg; they wanted to stomp out alcohol altogether.
