{"id":2549,"date":"2007-09-01T13:08:47","date_gmt":"2007-09-01T20:08:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2007\/09\/01\/a-farewell-to-snow\/"},"modified":"2007-09-01T13:08:47","modified_gmt":"2007-09-01T20:08:47","slug":"a-farewell-to-snow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2007\/09\/01\/a-farewell-to-snow\/","title":{"rendered":"A farewell to Snow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1.\u00c2\u00a0 Karl Rove.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00c2\u00a0 Alberto Gonzalez.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00c2\u00a0 Larry Craig.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00c2\u00a0 John Warner.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00c2\u00a0 Tony Snow.<\/p>\n<p>So we have those three members of the Bush administration have, within the past ten days or thereabouts, called it quits.\u00c2\u00a0 Enough ink has been spilled and enough and enough late night talk show monolouges have been tossed out and enough keyboards have been typed about Larry Craig.\u00c2\u00a0 John Warner&#8217;s retirement appears to be leading straight into the campaign announcement of Democratic Mark Warner, which appears to cement a Democratic Senate seat in the next cycle, and we should be busy salvaging as much &#8220;Senator Warner&#8221; stationary as possible for that turn-over.<\/p>\n<p>I always suspect Karl Rove&#8217;s departure as a bit of a sham, but perhaps we just acknowledge that he, along with Gonzalez, have averted a political disaster and entrenched hyper-spin control with the Democratic Congress, but then again the Democratic Congress hasn&#8217;t much gumption in these things.<\/p>\n<p>So there is Tony Snow, who left Fox News \/ Bush\u00c2\u00a0Administration\u00c2\u00a0to work for Bush Administration \/ Fox News.\u00c2\u00a0 Looking at his image, he has aged exponentially in his rather short tenure in the Bush administration.\u00c2\u00a0 I suppose I should just level that out to Cancer &#8212; and I note that Snow, in his farewell speech, talked about how Bush joked about his balding head &#8212; the cluelessness reminiscent of when Bush told the blind reporter to take off his shades.\u00c2\u00a0 Even in the best of times, with\u00c2\u00a0under the tutelege of a more\u00c2\u00a0honest politician (if such a thing exists), it is a job that grays your hair.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.\u00c2\u00a0 Karl Rove. 2.\u00c2\u00a0 Alberto Gonzalez. 3.\u00c2\u00a0 Larry Craig. 4.\u00c2\u00a0 John Warner. 5.\u00c2\u00a0 Tony Snow.
