{"id":2544,"date":"2007-08-31T09:41:34","date_gmt":"2007-08-31T16:41:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2007\/08\/31\/petty-crimes-one-approves-of\/"},"modified":"2007-08-31T09:41:34","modified_gmt":"2007-08-31T16:41:34","slug":"petty-crimes-one-approves-of","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2007\/08\/31\/petty-crimes-one-approves-of\/","title":{"rendered":"petty crimes one approves of"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a day late and a dollar short with this, because it is somewhat frivulous, but&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/pages\/live\/articles\/news\/worldnews.html?in_article_id=478041&#038;in_page_id=1811\">Nolan Cunningham<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Years ago, just a month or so into moving into Portland, I watched a small group of scamper away from the very same fountain.\u00c2\u00a0 They had done the same little stunt, poured soap into the fountain.\u00c2\u00a0 I walked away, and walked back.\u00c2\u00a0 When I came back, what I saw was a whole mass of peoples having fun, tossing bubbles around, making bubble sculptures, enjoying the scenic beauty of the overflowing bubbles.<\/p>\n<p>I do not know the cost benefit analysis in terms of what it takes to simply drain the fountain and re-stock, so I cannot quite say how much this is worthwhile.\u00c2\u00a0 I hazard to guess it is worth it.\u00c2\u00a0 The fountain is dormant for about half the year anyways.<br \/>\nWhich brings the odd statement about &#8220;shaming&#8221; the young man who did this.\u00c2\u00a0 I scratch my head at that one.\u00c2\u00a0 Now that we know his name and face, and as he does his community service, I suggest giving him a verbal pat on the back, a thumbs up.\u00c2\u00a0 One might also suggest how to avoid the security camera for the next time, if he should so choose to do so again.<\/p>\n<p>Sorry, city government of Portland.\u00c2\u00a0 You lose in your game of &#8220;shame&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m a day late and a dollar short with this, because it is somewhat frivulous, but&#8230; Nolan Cunningham.
