{"id":1933,"date":"2006-11-24T12:06:29","date_gmt":"2006-11-24T19:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2006\/11\/24\/thanksgiving-day-traditions\/"},"modified":"2006-11-24T15:08:17","modified_gmt":"2006-11-24T22:08:17","slug":"thanksgiving-day-traditions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2006\/11\/24\/thanksgiving-day-traditions\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanksgiving Day Traditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hear the phrase\u00c2\u00a0&#8220;Genocide Cover Up Day&#8221; on KBOO.\u00c2\u00a0 Not the first time I&#8217;ve heard the phrase and I don&#8217;t know how original it is, though it&#8217;s interesting that if you type it into google the first items you will see go to KBOO.<\/p>\n<p>In a similar though opposite vein, I see that Lewrockwell.com has, as is their annual want, an essay on how a form of socialism destroyed an early Pilgrim society.\u00c2\u00a0 I have to groan, as I have to every year.\u00c2\u00a0 Though this one is a little less meaningful than the other annual concept, and a bit more tedious.\u00c2\u00a0 I probably should have taken more effort to wash ashore somewhere or other and have a Thanksgiving Dinner with family &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; &#8220;Genocide Awareness Day&#8221; if you must.\u00c2\u00a0 There is an attitude you must take here, which is not to be terribly proud of a country or culture that you have no real control in being a part of.\u00c2\u00a0 I recall during the Clinton impeachment watching the mcnews broadcast that is Channel 1 with students at Bill Clinton&#8217;s old high school, the one with a sign saying that this Bill Clinton&#8217;s old high school, expressing chagrin at being associated with Clinton.\u00c2\u00a0 Apparently there is no oral sex happening at the school, and\u00c2\u00a0suggestions that such a thing may be happening there are false.\u00c2\u00a0 The point being that if you are ashamed of a relation to the president, you cannot have a sign up stating the relation to the president.<\/p>\n<p>I suppose I ate some pumpkin pie off of\u00c2\u00a0the\u00c2\u00a0corpses of the small pox-ed infused earliest Americans.\u00c2\u00a0 If I hadn&#8217;t, I would have just had to content myself in waiting as the new faux-culture battle that is the &#8220;War on Christmas&#8221; begins, under the marshal Control of General Bill O&#8217;Reilly, Culture Warrior.\u00c2\u00a0 Wal-Mart employees now say &#8220;Merry Christmas&#8221; instead of &#8220;Happy Holidays&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 And thus my revision to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2004\/12\/19\/part-8-it-goes-like-this\/\">this<\/a> goes:<\/p>\n<p><s>Macy&#8217;s Department Store<\/s> Wal-Mart\u00c2\u00a0Clerk: Thank you. Come again. <s>Happy Holidays.<\/s> Merry Christmas.<br \/>\nCustomer, Crusader for <s>Christmas<\/s> Secularism: <s>Merry Christmas.<\/s> Happy Holidays.<br \/>\nClerk: Sure. (looks to next customer)<br \/>\nCustomer: No. <s>Christmas.
