{"id":17786,"date":"2018-11-06T20:34:09","date_gmt":"2018-11-07T03:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=17786"},"modified":"2018-11-06T20:34:09","modified_gmt":"2018-11-07T03:34:09","slug":"the-doings-of-the-natural-law-party-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2018\/11\/06\/the-doings-of-the-natural-law-party-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"The doings of the Natural Law Party, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My bi-annual search on the continued existence&#8230; in one form or other&#8230; by ballot&#8230; of the Natural Law Party.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wdet.org\/posts\/2018\/11\/05\/87506-running-for-a-national-party-that-no-longer-exists\/\">It still exists in Michigan<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 For the hobby candidates.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Less than 2 percent of the vote&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 Which is plenty.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Modern Whig Party&#8221; got a boost from David Brooks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/05\/14\/opinion\/the-american-renaissance-is-already-happening.html\">who referenced it<\/a> because&#8230; he thinks he&#8217;s tracing his political lineage these days to Henry Clay and Zachary Taylor.\u00c2\u00a0 They have as many people running for office as the Old Whig Party does&#8230; zero.\u00c2\u00a0 So The Natural Law Party still beats them.<\/p>\n<p>Well, there&#8217;s always the good old Prohibition Party &#8212; which, after a couple of their long-term holder of the faith have died off &#8212; have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2018\/oct\/26\/prohibition-party-2020-presidential-election-campaign\">three way primary coming up for president in 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My bi-annual search on the continued existence&#8230; in one form or other&#8230; by ballot&#8230; of the Natural Law Party.
