{"id":17235,"date":"2018-04-20T16:18:43","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T23:18:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=17235"},"modified":"2018-04-20T16:18:43","modified_gmt":"2018-04-20T23:18:43","slug":"not-4-20-friendly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2018\/04\/20\/not-4-20-friendly\/","title":{"rendered":"not 4-20 friendly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Worthwhile to note, states that have legalized Cannibis &#8212; or at least Washington and Oregon &#8212; have it such that counties or municipalities can opt out.\u00c2\u00a0 I suppose you scavenge for votes, and allow for &#8220;community standards&#8221; to work.<\/p>\n<p>Such is the wackiness that ensues that a recall effort happened for the council members of Madras, Oregon because they didn&#8217;t ban the drug.<\/p>\n<p>And then you have to ponder the creeping in of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tri-cityherald.com\/news\/local\/article209275199.html\">outlaw border business<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Richland&#8217;s council banned\u00c2\u00a0marijuana-related activities on a 3-2 vote in 2014\u00c2\u00a0after Washington voters approved Initiative 502, legalizing recreational marijuana two years earlier.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The measure was unpopular locally, leading Richland, along with Kennewick, Pasco, West Richland and Franklin County, to enact bans on retail stores, growing, processing and community pot gardens.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Benton County did not initially ban marijuana, but is\u00c2\u00a0weighing a permanent after-the-fact moratorium\u00c2\u00a0now after complaints arose about the concentration of activities in unincorporated areas such as Finley and near West Richland.\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sure.\u00c2\u00a0 Do you have to swab the rooms extra-tightly in those areas to make extra sure the smoke doesn&#8217;t drift out of Finley lest West Richland get a contact high, which\u00c2\u00a0would make for a contact crime?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Worthwhile to note, states that have legalized Cannibis &#8212; or at least Washington and Oregon &#8212; have it such that counties or municipalities can opt out.\u00c2\u00a0 I suppose you scavenge for votes, and allow for &#8220;community standards&#8221; to work.
