The campaign speech took place at a fairgrounds 25 miles from a largely African-American Milwaukee neighborhood that was at the time engulfed in turmoil after a black man was fatally shot by a police officer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Mr. Trump continued his appeal to black voters on Friday at a rally outside of Lansing, Mich. In a county that is 88% white, Mr. Trump said African-Americans have \u00e2\u20ac\u0153nothing to lose\u00e2\u20ac\u009d by supporting him, because their plight in America\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Democratic-run inner cities is so dismal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next up.\u00c2\u00a0 Caspar, Wyoming.\u00c2\u00a0 Salt Lake, Utah.\u00c2\u00a0 Portland, Oregon.\u00c2\u00a0 Burlington, Vermont.<\/p>\n<p><em>Michael Steele, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, said he has passed along requests from historically black colleges for Mr. Trump to speak. The requests were conveyed to the campaign, which didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t respond, said Mr. Steele, who is black.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The fact of the matter is it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s something that you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got to be a little bit smarter about,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Mr. Steele, who said he would vote for Mr. Trump, with whom he said he speaks regularly to offer advice. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t go to a white community to talk about black folks. Hello, it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t make sense.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ah, yes.\u00c2\u00a0 Michael Steele.\u00c2\u00a0 The bizarre &#8220;I speak jive&#8221; Republican chairman, never mind his prior history in electoral politics was pretty devoid of black lingo.\u00c2\u00a0 But never mind&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Still, <a href=\"http:\/\/wgnradio.com\/2016\/08\/08\/michael-steele-on-evan-mcmullins-third-party-run-they-look-dumber-and-dumber-with-each-moment-the-persist-in-this-stupidity\/\">he&#8217;s onto something in castigating the third party run of Evan McMullin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/donald-trump-im-going-to-announce-something-on-immigration-in-next-2-weeks\/\">I don&#8217;t know where Trump can go on immigration<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I know Americans have somewhat famously short attention span on some things, but when you&#8217;ve already referenced Mexicans (illegally in the United States or not) as rapists, a &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2016\/08\/steve-king-trump-immigration-stance-227361\">softening&#8221; of the rhetoric<\/a> does&#8230; what?<br \/>\n(Sigh.)<\/p>\n<p>The election campaign confuses me somewhat.\u00c2\u00a0 This comes off the heels of a &#8220;into the echo chamber&#8221; and &#8220;were gonna win, polls be damned, because of embarrassed Trump voters&#8221; [Which just might be worth a couple points] tacit.\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe these Breitbartian voices actually do have a pulse into real America after all?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The stupid, the stupid, the stupid.
