{"id":14836,"date":"2015-08-17T16:39:05","date_gmt":"2015-08-17T23:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=14836"},"modified":"2015-08-17T16:39:05","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T23:39:05","slug":"wont-kiss-babies-but-then-again-also-wont-eat-them","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2015\/08\/17\/wont-kiss-babies-but-then-again-also-wont-eat-them\/","title":{"rendered":"won&#8217;t kiss babies, but then again also won&#8217;t eat them"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bernie Sanders&#8230; damned if he does, damned if he doesn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/inthesetimes.com\/article\/18275\/feminists-debate-bernie-vs-hillary\">From an In These Times article<\/a>, with three feminists on the subject of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, the Bernie Sanders supporter of the three &#8212; Liza Featherstone &#8212; offers this &#8230; what I suppose is a statement about a certain roboticness and aloofness in not connecting the economic message and so blind to the problems on the ground&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Years ago I went to a Bernie Sanders house party with my baby, and instead of trying to kiss the bably, like a politician, he just did what any old white man does, which is talk to you and ignore the baby<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2004\/02\/02\/do-not-eat-the-baby\/\">At least he didn&#8217;t eat the baby<\/a>?\u00c2\u00a0 (The 2004 blog-post was inspired by a radio broadcast by Rick Emerson and probably Tim Riley &#8212; which as I recall was just them crying out as they watched Bush with the baby crying out &#8220;Don&#8217;t eat it!\u00c2\u00a0 Don&#8217;t &#8230; eat &#8230; the baby!&#8221; &#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>I suppose it also makes sense in the way Bernie Sanders doesn&#8217;t quite grasp the motive behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/entry\/bernie-sanders-hillary-hair_55d20573e4b07addcb4374e1\">what would be construed as an inane question<\/a> &#8212; He&#8217;s not following the queries of hair coverage, because he&#8217;s issue-driven.<\/p>\n<p>Other interesting tid-bits rolling about Bernie Sanders on the early years&#8230; and&#8230; for his first Senate race we see &#8220;<em>Sanders floated hippie-friendly proposals, such as legalizing all drugs, an end to compulsory education, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2015\/05\/young-bernie-sanders-liberty-union-vermont\">widening the entrance ramps of interstate highways to allow cars to more easily pull over to pick up hitch-hikers<\/a><\/em>&#8220;.\u00c2\u00a0 As well &#8220;he criticized water fluoridation as a government intrustion on individual freedom.&#8221;<br \/>\nIt was to grab headlines, it appears.<\/p>\n<p>But nonetheless.<\/p>\n<p>widening the entrance ramps of interstate highways to allow cars to more easily pull over to pick up hitch-hikers???\u00c2\u00a0 I want someone to ask him if he still agrees with the idea&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bernie Sanders&#8230; damned if he does, damned if he doesn&#8217;t.
