You own guns?<br \/>\n<\/em>Wouldn&#8217;t gun rights activists argue that &#8220;anti-gun \/ anti-violence&#8221; shouldn&#8217;t be merged?<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Novoselic: I own guns. I think they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re a good tool to have out in the country, and I should be able to protect my home and my family.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>reason: What kind of guns do you have?\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Novoselic: I have pistols and semi-automatic rifles, a shotgun. I have chickens. You need a shotgun.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> You get a raccoon in there they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll wipe you out, so if I couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t shoot a raccoon I wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have fresh eggs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Fair enough.\u00c2\u00a0 But I can&#8217;t figure out this next question&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>reason: When people, especially in D.C., talk about guns, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s always either \u00e2\u20ac\u0153nutjobs own guns\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153pure Americans don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d How big a benefit is it for you to have grown up and come out of a world where the lines aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t that clear?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I understand the interviewer is trying to create a partisan fighting over the matter, and throwing one &#8220;nutjob owns gun&#8221; to another from the other side (I would think his), and parsing the thing out he managed to get what looks like two from the same anti-gun side (maybe a Freudian slip showing his bias)&#8230; but&#8230; whatever the case&#8230;, who says the terms &#8220;pure Americans&#8221;, and what does that even mean?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Reason magazine, Krist Novoselic asked about gun ownership. reason: One of the odd things about rock stars is that oftentimes they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re great capitalists but they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re also explicitly anti-capitalism.
