{"id":13674,"date":"2014-02-11T19:37:44","date_gmt":"2014-02-12T02:37:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=13674"},"modified":"2014-02-11T19:37:44","modified_gmt":"2014-02-12T02:37:44","slug":"rand-paul-wooing-voters-still-angry-about-monica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2014\/02\/11\/rand-paul-wooing-voters-still-angry-about-monica\/","title":{"rendered":"Rand Paul wooing voters still angry about Monica."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rand Paul is partying like it&#8217;s 1999!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2014\/02\/why-is-rand-paul-talking-about-bill-clinton-and-monica-lewinsky\/283698\/\">Or, probably 1998<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>In recent weeks, one Republican after another has come forward to rebut the Democratic claim that the GOP is waging a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153war on women.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d The responses have ranged from homey (Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers responding to Barack Obama\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s State of the Union address by noting that she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d given birth just eight weeks earlier) to creepy (former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee saying Democrats think women can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t control their \u00e2\u20ac\u0153libidos.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d) But perhaps most puzzling has been the tack taken by Rand Paul, who in interview after interview after interview has accused Democrats of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153hypocrisy\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for claiming to support women\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s rights while giving Bill Clinton a pass for his \u00e2\u20ac\u0153predatory\u00e2\u20ac\u009d behavior towards Monica Lewinsky.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The pundit-ocracy is speaking.<\/p>\n<p><span itemprop=\"headline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.investors.com\/politics-andrew-malcolm\/021014-689437-rand-paul-hillary-clinton-bill-clinton-monica-lewinsky.htm\">What Rand Paul needs to stop doing<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apparently there&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/02\/11\/us\/politics\/clinton-scandal-of-90s-resurfaces-with-papers.html?_r=0\">a whole treasure trove of new materials from the Clinton era about the whole brohauhau about Monica Lewinsky<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 A right wing blog news source has had a field day publishing a bunch of stuff.<\/p>\n<p>The funny thing about it is&#8230; none of it is all that much interesting.<\/p>\n<p>(And check out that photoraph down a ways on the NYT piece of Rand Paul WALKING RIGHT AT YOU.\u00c2\u00a0 It needs to be printed in 3D, to give you the total effect of Rand Paul WALKING RIGHT AT YOU.)<\/p>\n<p>You know&#8230; when Ron Paul voted for impeachment&#8230; he took the opportunity to explain his vote as &#8230; erm&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/scotthorton.org\/stress\/2009\/09\/05\/ron-paul-on-why-bill-clinton-should-have-been-impeached-and-removed\/\">War.\u00c2\u00a0 What is it good for<\/a>?\u00c2\u00a0 Though, he didn&#8217;t follow up on it for Bush.\u00c2\u00a0 But Rand Paul isn&#8217;t Ron Paul, and Rand Paul needs to somehow appeal to 60 something year old conservative activists in Iowa, and repeating Monica is sexier than repeating Benghazi over and over again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rand Paul is partying like it&#8217;s 1999!
