Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Creating awkward paragraph juxtapositions<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2013\/04\/15\/showbiz\/bieber-anne-frank\/\"> such as this one<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Adolescent and teen girls obsessed with the Canadian singer are known as &#8220;beliebers.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><em>Anne Frank died a teenager in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So, the big question this guestbook comment leaves: \u00c2\u00a0would she have?<\/p>\n<p>The best you can do is extrapolate her attitudes from her book, and the answer one comes to is&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0No,\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/articles\/arts\/explainer\/2013\/04\/justin_bieber_at_anne_frank_house_what_pop_culture_did_she_enjoy.html\">Anne Frank probably would not have been a Justin Bieber fan<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0As much as the Anne Frank House is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/409197\/justin-bieber-defended-by-anne-frank-s-stepsister-she-probably-would-have-been-a-fan\">trying to cover for him<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0(For his part Justin Bieber is brushing aside the controversy with a shirtless photograph and a sarcastic retort of &#8220;so very crazy&#8221; in the &#8220;stop the presses&#8221; mode.)<\/p>\n<p>Is there a lesson to all this? \u00c2\u00a0Hm&#8230; \u00c2\u00a0Yes and no. \u00c2\u00a0No and yes.<\/p>\n<p>Actually I kind of want to dig into the realm of stormfront and the neo-nazi (and holocaust denying) web forums to see their take on the controversy&#8230; but &#8230; I don&#8217;t know&#8230; I&#8217;m afraid to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The big question that Justin Bieber&#8217;s comment at the Anne Frank House&#8217;s guestbook raises&#8230; and you know the comment: Truly inspiring to be able to come here.
