{"id":10469,"date":"2012-09-12T09:56:22","date_gmt":"2012-09-12T16:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/?p=10469"},"modified":"2012-09-12T09:56:22","modified_gmt":"2012-09-12T16:56:22","slug":"might-as-well-look-at-some-senate-races-that-actually-are-races","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.struat.com\/election\/2012\/09\/12\/might-as-well-look-at-some-senate-races-that-actually-are-races\/","title":{"rendered":"might as well look at some Senate races that actually are races"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All of the Primary Contests are done and through with.\u00c2\u00a0 Tuesday had the last state primary elections.<\/p>\n<p>Tommy Thompson won the Republican primary contest in <strong>Wisconsin<\/strong>, despite the well heeled suggestions that the &#8220;Tea Party&#8221; challenger was stampeding upward in the polls along the lines of some previous contestants.\u00c2\u00a0 So chalk that up for the &#8220;Republican Establishment&#8221; in this somewhat murkey demarcation of battle lines.\u00c2\u00a0 Meantime, the old saw of a mark of progress in the election, that the Democratic Candidate &#8212; Tammy Baldwin &#8212; is getting attacked with the &#8220;L&#8221; word of &#8220;Liberal&#8221; and not &#8220;Lesbian&#8221;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/news\/statepolitics\/thompson-says-aides-messages-about-baldwin-were-inappropriate-3k6qqqv-169356086.html\"> was put to the test<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson said Tuesday that it was a mistake for one of his aides to send a disparaging email and Twitter messages about Democratic opponent Tammy Baldwin dancing at a gay pride event.The email and tweets were sent in advance of Baldwin&#8217;s speech at the Democratic National Convention last week.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>&#8220;I thought it was a mistake, I&#8217;m sorry, and he&#8217;s apologized, I believe,&#8221; Thompson told reporters after a luncheon of the Milwaukee Rotary Club. &#8220;He shouldn&#8217;t have done it.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The emails were sent by aide Brian Nemoir from his campaign account. It also included his title and the campaign&#8217;s web address.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The message accompanying the video said, &#8220;Clearly, there is no one better positioned to talk &#8216;heartland values&#8217; than Tammy&#8221; and told recipients to take note of the gay pride event.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The theme of Baldwin&#8217;s speech at the convention was heartland and Wisconsin values.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Political history tells us that even if she were not an out lesbian, she would probably get something like that suggesting that she was.<\/p>\n<p>Out in <strong>Massachusetts<\/strong>, Elizabeth Warren is coming off as a bit too National\u00c2\u00a0 and Scott Brown is never failing to mention that he has a pick-up truck.\u00c2\u00a0 After wading through polls that garner Brown with a clear lead, with a Warren convention speech that was hyped by some political grandees as &#8220;Make or Break time&#8221; and I may add a no-show by Brown at his party&#8217;s convention&#8230; my hunch is Warren will win after all.<\/p>\n<p>Out in <strong>Missouri<\/strong>&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/superofficialnews.com\/todd-akin-accepts-bill-nyes-challenge-for-a-debate\/\">NONE OF THIS IS REAL<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 but you wish it were.<\/p>\n<p><em>Petersburg, KY \u00e2\u20ac\u201d In a move that is shocking the nation, Missouri Representative Todd Akin has agreed to <a title=\"Bill Nye's challenge to\n Todd Akin for a debate\" onclick=\"javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackEvent','outbound-article','http:\/\/dailycurrant.com']);\" href=\"http:\/\/dailycurrant.com\/2012\/08\/30\/bill-nye-blasts-todd-akin-challenges-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Nye\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s challenge<\/a> for a debate in science. The announcement was made this afternoon at a press conference held at the Creation Museum in\u00c2\u00a0Kentucky. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I accept Bill \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcLies\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 the Science Guy and his challenge for a debate,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Akin told reporters. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll quickly learn that the word of god will always win over the word of some guy.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>George Allen&#8217;s political comeback in <strong>Virginia<\/strong> is going well.\u00c2\u00a0 And he is on track to put aside Macaca and the remaindered history of his Confederacy loving California adolescence to storm back to that Senate seat he was always trying to hold onto to get to a Presidency he will never have.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kfbb.com\/news\/local\/Tester-Farm-Celebration-169059646.html\">A feel good fluff item that establishes Jon Tester&#8217;s bucolic credentials in <\/a><strong>Montana<\/strong>?<br \/>\n<em>With less than 60 days until the 2012 elections, things are starting to heat up in many races but that didn&#8217;t stop Senator Jon Tester from returning to his hometown of Big Sandy for some R&amp;R \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and a celebration of his family-owned farm\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s centennial.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Senator Jon Tester is in the heat of election season. Putting the stress of November aside, he still found time to return home.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Tester said of the visit back to Big Sandy, &#8220;Well, this is great! Anytime we get people together to visit, talk and have good food.
